A Descriptive Account of Foraging Behavior of the Pacific Reef Heron Egretta sacra 
(dark morph) on Rocky Shores

岩礁海岸におけるクロサギ Egretta sacra 黒色型の採食行動の記述的整理

岩礁海岸の波浪条件下で、クロサギ（黒色型）の採食行動に伴って観察される「姿勢の変化」を、記述的に整理した論考です。
探索と捕獲という機能的枠組みに加えて、採食が実行される局面で翼の開閉などの姿勢要素が切り替わることを示し、行動記述の補助的な視点として位置づけます。

This paper provides a descriptive account of posture changes observed during foraging in the Pacific Reef Heron (Egret sacra) on wave-exposed rocky shores.
It suggests that wing opening/closing and other posture shifts—especially under wave influence and immediately before prey capture—can be treated as descriptive elements that complement conventional functional frameworks (search and capture), rather than as independent foraging methods.

岩礁海岸を中心に、クロサギ（黒色型）が利用する環境構造と採食行動を定量的に整理した研究です。
とくに「翼半開き待ち伏せ法」が、波の影響下で高頻度に用いられることを示し、岩礁環境における姿勢制御との関係を考察しています。

This study quantifies habitat structure and foraging behavior of the dark morph Pacific Reef Heron (Egret sacra) along rocky coasts in central Japan.
It highlights the “crouch with outstretched wings” technique, showing it is frequently used when waves are coming, and discusses its possible role in posture control on rocky shores.

This paper examines the gap between subjective experience and objective description through the concept of translation.
It traces, over time, how experiences such as anxiety or relief can be structurally organized and made available for theoretical description.

Preserving Emergence Across Descriptive Media

早すぎる固定から翻訳的実践へ —— 記述メディアを横断して生成を保つ方法論

音楽の即興演奏、会話、行動の観察、歴史の記述といった異なる実践に共通して起こる
「早すぎる確定（premature stabilization）」の問題を、方法論的に整理した論考です。
出来事がまだ生成の途中にある段階で、評価や分類、結論を急いでしまうと、
私たちは事象そのものが立ち上がってくる過程を見失ってしまいます。

本論文では、個人の体験から他者との相互作用、さらには時間的に隔たった歴史記述に至るまで、
「翻訳」という操作がどのように生成を保持したり、逆に失わせたりするのかを辿ります。
ここでいう翻訳とは、表現を置き換えることではなく、
進行中の出来事を、まだ固まりきらないまま記述へと移行させる実践を指します。

This paper develops a methodological framework for understanding translation as an operation that preserves emergence rather than fixing outcomes.
Across improvisational music, conversational interaction, ethological observation, and historical description, it identifies premature stabilization as a shared failure mode in which events are fixed too early through categorization or closure.

By examining how this failure first disrupts individual engagement and then scales relationally and temporally, the paper reframes translation as a practice that sustains a temporal margin of becoming. Rather than proposing a new ontology, it specifies operational conditions under which unfolding phenomena can remain observable as they move toward description.

When Descriptive Levels Do Not Align:
A Case of Execution-Level Tension in Animal Foraging Behavior

行動記述のレベルが噛み合わないとき── 採食行動における実行局面の記述的緊張

動物行動研究において一般的に用いられる行動記述の枠組みが、行動の「実行局面」において必ずしも十分に整合しない場面に着目した論考です。
探索と捕獲といった機能的行動単位と、環境条件という記述レベルが、それぞれ妥当でありながら、行動が遂行される瞬間において噛み合わない状況が生じうることを示します。
本稿は、新たな行動分類や説明モデルを提案するものではなく、既存の記述枠組みを補助する視点として、実行局面における記述の限界点を明示することを目的としています。

This paper presents a descriptive and methodological note on situations in which commonly used descriptive levels in behavioral research do not align at the execution phase of behavior.
Using a foraging episode observed in the Pacific Reef Heron (Egretta sacra) as an illustrative case, it describes posture changes—such as wing opening and closing—that cannot be fully treated as independent behavioral units nor as simple environmental responses.
Rather than proposing a new classification or explanatory account, this paper highlights a point at which existing descriptive frameworks reach their limits, suggesting the value of attending to execution-level phenomena as a complementary perspective in behavioral description.
